Garage Door Remote Lookup: What the Makers List

See which remotes the makers list for your garage door opener. Pick the brand and, for three brands, the colour of the learn button, and read the makers’ own lines, each with its link and the date we read it.

Your opener
The brand printed on the motor unit itself, not on a remote. The list holds every brand name that at least one maker’s document we read prints.

This page shows what the makers themselves publish, one statement per line with a link to its document, as read on 11 October 2026. It gives no opinion on any remote, asks for no model number, and looks up remotes only, not keypads or a car’s built-in buttons.

Questions people ask

Which remotes do the makers list for my garage door opener?
This page does not pick one. It shows what the makers print, under the brand and, for three brands, the learn-button colour their charts use. As an example, in Chamberlain Group’s chart for the Chamberlain brand the column headed “Purple/Brown LEARN Button (2005-2014)” ticks CH382, CH361, CH363 and CHU62 in the table of remotes made now, and leaves CH161 and CH163 unticked. Pick your brand above to read the lines printed under it, each with the condition its maker attaches.
Where is the learn button on a Chamberlain, LiftMaster or Craftsman opener?
The remote chart read for each of those three brands says: “The LEARN button is located on the back or right side of your opener, near the hanging antenna wire.” Two Chamberlain Group articles add more. One, which names no brand, says: “The "Learn" button on your garage door opener is located above the antenna wire that hangs from the motorhead, it may also be under a light cover.” The other, which names Chamberlain openers, says: “Look for the learn button on the same side of the opener where the wires from the door control and safety sensors connect.” No sentence read for this site says where the button is on any other brand.
What do the makers say about openers made before 1993?
Among the documents read here: the first page of Chamberlain Group’s tool says: “Chamberlain and LiftMaster garage door remote controls and keypads are only compatible with openers manufactured after 1993 that use safety sensors.” Overhead Door’s question-and-answer sheet says: “Also remember, Overhead Door® operator accessories should only be used on products produced 1993 and after that have functional safety sensors.” Genie heads a statement “PRE-1993 OPENERS SHOULD BE REPLACED - NOT REPAIRED”.
Why does the page sometimes show two documents that print different things?
Because the makers’ pages do not always print the same thing, and this page does not choose between them. One case is looked for: a remote that one document prints with a mark for a colour while another document’s table shows it without a tick under that colour. As read, it is found for one brand and one colour. Under Chamberlain with a yellow learn button, Chamberlain Group’s tool prints a yellow mark beside CH361, CH363, CH382 and CHU62, and its chart has no tick against them in the column headed “Yellow Circle LEARN Button (2022-2025)”. Both are shown, each with its link.
What if my brand is not in the list?
Then this page has nothing to show for it. The list holds the 25 brand names that at least one of the documents read on 11 October 2026 prints, and no others.
